Signal number 1 has been raised over parts of Southern Luzon and Visayas after tropical storm “Chedeng” (international codename: Songda) intensified further as it continued to move towards the country, the state-run weather bureau said Tuesday.
In its latest weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 4 a.m., Chedeng was seen 540 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar packing maximum strong winds of 105 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 135 kph
